    [info]alisanne's holiday fic is practically writing itself! I'm enjoying it a lot, even though it somehow seems very 'old school' Snarry--and somehow kind of cheesy, in a bad-fic plot kind of way. I only worry there's a lot of exposition, but . . . I like it that way. Again, old school. It feels like something that could--and should--have been written several years ago. It's not flawless, it's not elegant, but it's fun.

    Well. That went well.
    No, seriously, it totally did. This has been the best Thanksgiving we've had in years. The feast was amazing, the company was wonderful, the conversation all over the map, and inclusive leik whoa, and even when the kitchen was overflowing with people, cats, and not enough tupperware, nobody got an eye put out, or went home crying. There were 'before' pictures -- everybody took some, -- but we were in such profound food stupors, we plumb forgot to take 'aftermath' pictures, until we were halfway through putting the carnage away.

    We watched, and greatly enjoyed True Blood over the visit, and I ain't afraid to say so. I've had that insidious opening track in my head ever since, thank you. And, had Friday managed to be more than a protracted, daylong nap, punctuated by raids on the leftovers, we might well have watched Waking Ned Devine, as well. But, well, not so much with that. That's okay though. The daylong nap was still entirely enjoyable, and did wonders for charging everyone's batteries after the cooking frenzy of the days before.

    Today, we drove Mystery Guest #1 to the airport, and then took Mystery Guest #2 home to Boston. Took the opportunity to introduce her to another of my ex-Albany, now-Bostonian friends, and was thrilled to see a rather immediate click happen there. I'd always rather suspected those two would get on famously.

    Dominus and I elected to make the drive home tonight, in the interest of him getting a whole day offline tomorrow, since the poor boo had to work on Friday and all. As is usual for us, we spent the drive home from Boston arguing silly worldbuilding things, like heirarchy of powers between vampires, werewolves, human mages, and the sidhe from my Blackwatch universe. Silly, I know, but I'll try any trick to get the muse's knees apart, don'tchaknow. And without recourse to Snow Leopards or I-hate-everything baskets*, we made it home just as he was beginning to get the exhaustion-light tracers, so all was well.

    And now? I take my pills and go to the sleeping.

This 'rock' has been doctored for Harry's particular purposes. ;) Since I like the idea of Harry and Severus's mum conspiring to make him happy, I'm thinking it's one of Severus's childhood favorites and she clued Harry in.

    My version of the Grimmauld Place library is just that – mine. I've no idea what it looks like in canon, though we've not seen it in the movies. This story is a 7th Year AU, so please don't tell me what's different; it's meant to be this way. Serpenscript's prompt can be found at the end of the fic.
    Author's note to giftee: Dear serpenscript, thank you for the awesome prompts! I could have written all of them, but in the end chose your first choice. I changed it a little; I hope you don't mind but it worked better for me this way. So the messages from the book are spoken, not appearing on the page as they did in Riddle's diary. I tried to get most of the prompt in, and also some of your favoured kinks and hopefully none of your squicks. I also tried to avoid 'excessive' fluff, but had to give it a happy ending. I hope I made it plotty enough for you, though I'm not too sure about the clever use of canon bit *grins*. Also, I couldn't resist a fair bit of humour creeping in, maybe more than you expected.
